QuoVadis Launches Service for Dutch PKI Overheid
24 Jul 2009

International certification services provider (CSP) QuoVadis has launched a new service under the Dutch PKI Overheid.

PKI Overheid providers issue digital certificates that are used for secure online communication and transactions by citizens and business representatives with the Dutch Government, as well as by civil servants within the Government.

Digital certificates are commonly used to identify users or devices on the Internet, to create encryption for privacy, to make data tamperproof, and to create legally valid electronic signatures. Recognizing that Government transactions require high reliability, PKI Overheid enforces common standards across providers, linked to Dutch law, and with ongoing supervision.

QuoVadis is the sixth provider to join PKI Overheid, and among the first to sign under the programme’s new generation root which provides stronger algorithms for increased security.

“The pressure to adopt online business practices is accelerating, and concerns about identity, privacy, and data integrity must be taken seriously. Complimenting our services to the Dutch corporate sector, QuoVadis is pleased to join the PKI Overheid hierarchy for the public sector” said Lex Samuel, managing director of QuoVadis’ Utrecht operations.

QuoVadis is already a Qualified CSP in Holland based on the TTP.NL for Certification Authorities Scheme and in Switzerland based on their equivalent ZertES accreditation. The company also has affiliate operations in the United Kingdom and Bermuda. The company services a wide variety of multinational corporations and e-government programmes.
